The Master of Education (Counselling Psychology) degree program is designed to prepare highly knowledgeable, skilled, dedicated, and ethical professional practitioners, who will endeavour to enhance human potential throughout the lifespan and who can effectively practice within a variety of educational and community settings. Completion of this program will enable graduates to meet the requirements of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) to be eligible to become Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC). The counselling psychology program is designed to align with the proposed regulatory college for counselling therapy put forth by FACT NL (Federation of Associations of Counselling Therapists in Newfoundland and Labrador).

This Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Studies (CTLS) program provides opportunities for students to investigate pertinent issues in these interrelated areas from a variety of perspectives: philosophical, historical, social, cultural, cognitive, and technological. The conceptual bases of curriculum, teaching, and learning are explored and analyzed along with related examples of historical and current policies and practices. The program encourages the development of broad-based insights into issues related to these areas through an emphasis on critical inquiry and reflective practice. It supports students in the development and enhancement of research capabilities and professional expertise and practice.

Admission Requirements

  • Second-class degree in an appropriate area of study from a university of recognized standing.
  • Minimum of one year full-time (or the equivalent) school, health, community-based or related work/volunteer experience.

I've had a really positive experience. The program covers all the essentials — accounting, marketing, management — while also encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving in real-world business scenarios. I’ve enjoyed the hands-on projects and chances to collaborate with local businesses, which have boosted both my skills and confidence.

I’m really glad I chose the Engineering program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. It’s challenging but rewarding, with a great balance of theory and paid co-op work terms that give you real experience before you graduate.

The professors are knowledgeable, and there’s a strong community feel in labs and projects. It’s a respected, accredited program, and while it’s demanding, it’s absolutely worth it if you’re serious about becoming an engineer.
