Students who enroll in Centennial College’s Firefighter – Pre-Service Education and Training program will learn the fundamental skills required for a career in fire fighting, making them a eligible candidate for future employment in the fire industry.
By combining theory and practical learning, this one year program will teach students fire suppression, environmental protection, and rescue operations. Students will learn using training centres from Ajax Fire Services, while Emergency Patient Care classes will take place at Centennial’s Morningside Campus in Scarborough, taking advantage of the school’s state of the art medical lab.
Admission Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent.
- Grade 12 English, college or university.
- Grade 11 math, college or university.
- Medical report.
- CPR and first aid training.
What You’ll Learn
- Understand best practices for fire fighting techniques and equipment.
- Use appropriate problem solving skills for emergency and non-emergency situations.
- How to work in a fire fighting team, and with other medical care providers.
- Communicate using verbal and non-verbal methods that are used in fire service.
