Conestoga College, in partnership with Carson Dunlop, offers the Home Inspection Certificate Program, designed to provide students with practical knowledge of the performance and condition of residential building systems. The program follows the Standards of Practice established by the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors (OAHI) and the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), ensuring students learn a consistent and professional approach to home inspections. Emphasis is placed on understanding the systems and components of a house, including roofing, structure, electrical, heating, air conditioning and heat pumps, plumbing, exterior, insulation, and interior elements.
Through a combination of theoretical and practical training, students develop the skills necessary to assist home buyers and sellers by identifying conditions and potential issues within a property. The curriculum covers ten core subjects, providing knowledge in both technical inspection and professional communication to prepare students for a successful career in the home inspection industry. Graduates of the program meet the OAHI Baseline Academic Requirements and gain specialized training in residential HVAC, electrical systems, and practical home inspection techniques.
