Humber’s Computer Engineering Technology advanced diploma program provides students with the knowledge and training necessary to design and develop the advanced technologies that drive modern businesses and government operations worldwide.

Students receive instruction from industry professionals in small class settings, gaining hands-on experience in hardware and software, electronics, networking, and a wide range of systems. The program also emphasizes the ability to update and integrate new technologies into existing infrastructures.

Developed in collaboration with industry partners, the curriculum is aligned with current market needs. It includes courses in programming, electronics, network configuration and programming, Linux/Ubuntu installation and setup, and network services. These foundational elements help students build strong skills in software development, data communications, networking, and cybersecurity. Learners are trained to develop, install, and maintain computer embedded and network systems, work with various network protocols and microcontrollers, and enhance existing applications.

In the final year, students focus on integrating their accumulated knowledge by exploring network internals through application programming interfaces (APIs), comparing different computer architectures, and completing a capstone project involving an embedded system.

What You’ll Learn

  • Develop and maintain embedded and network systems using various microcontrollers and protocols.
  • Gain hands-on experience in programming, electronics, networking, and system integration.
  • Install, configure, and manage Linux/Ubuntu systems and network services.
  • Build and refine applications using APIs and explore different computer architectures.

I recently took the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for Digital Marketers and Communications program at Humber Polytechnic and found it really practical and easy to follow. It breaks down AI concepts in a way that actually makes sense for marketers, without getting overly technical.

I liked that we focused on real-world tools and use cases — from content creation to analytics — and how to apply AI strategically rather than just chasing trends. It’s a great starting point for anyone in marketing or communications who wants to understand how AI can fit into their day-to-day work.
