Taxation is an introductory course to federal income tax in a Canadian setting. Students will gain an understanding of the underlying objectives and principles of income taxation. Topics include employment income, business income, income from property, investment income and capital gains. Personal tax returns for individuals will be completed both manually and using a tax preparation software program.

After attending Brock University for four years and graduating from the Business Communications program I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do next. We had a spokesperson from Niagara College come into our 4th year class to tell us about the Public Relations post-grad degree. I was turned onto the fact it was a one-year program that had a co-op/field placement to get real work experience in the field.
I enrolled in the program and it was extremely beneficial to my professional development. In university I learned a lot of theoretical and writing skills, but lacked a lot of hands-on experience. Niagara College got right into the meat of it and exposed me to a lot of things I never learned in university. We had courses that taught us how to use Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, how to develop a basic website, writing for social media/PR and much more.
Overall I was extremely satisfied with my experience and I ended up landing a full-time job at the place I did my work placement at. Several years later I've moved along well in my career in a large part thanks to Niagara College's PR program.
