Students in Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design (Textiles) program will design and create outstanding work. Learning from design professionals in Sheridan’s state-of-the-art facilities, students will get hands-on experience in 2D and 3D fibre-specific approaches, including printing, weaving, dyeing, off-loom techniques, digital design and sewing.

With a growing awareness of sustainable industry practices, the Textiles Studio is committed to doing their part. Dyes are purchased from reputable suppliers and students will grow and harvest their own natural dyes in the Dye Garden located on campus. Students also help to care for the Dye Garden, making a positive environmental impact and embracing greener textile practices.

This degree program provides a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to Craft and Design. Students will major in their studio of choice while building skills in the four other disciplines. Students will work with other students and faculty from across all five studios on interdisciplinary projects that bring together a range of expertise and experiences to explore the potential of contemporary art, craft and design.

Whether learners become an independent artist, seek studio employment or pursue graduate studies, graduates are prepared for their career through interdisciplinary projects, work placement
programs, field trips, industry visits, competitions, visiting artists and lecturers, research and studio-based work. Graduates of the program have created careers as Textile Artist for Theatre, Film Textile Design for Fashion, Interiors, or Product, Design Consultant Entrepreneur, Educator Gallerist or Curator, and Artist / Craftsperson Textile Technologist.
