Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program at Toronto Metropolitan University prepares students to become skilled advocates and collaborative practitioners committed to advancing social justice and equity. Grounded in a deep understanding of how factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, class, sexual diversity, age, and physical and mental abilities shape people’s lived experiences, the program equips graduates to support individuals in accessing essential services and achieving their goals. As a leader in progressive social work education, the School of Social Work emphasizes critically engaged practice, integrating anti-oppression and social justice perspectives with a strong focus on marginalized populations and communities.

Students benefit from a dynamic blend of academic study and professional training, including 700 hours of supervised field education in diverse settings such as community organizations, child welfare agencies, mental health services, and research environments. Through these experiences, they connect theory to practice while developing the skills needed for effective, real-world intervention.
