Red River College Polytechnic’s Plumbing program equips students with the technical expertise and hands-on experience needed to build rewarding careers in the plumbing trade. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical training, students learn to install, repair, and maintain piping systems used in both residential and commercial settings. The program covers essential topics such as water supply and waste disposal systems, sanitary drainage, venting, storm drainage, and the interpretation of plumbing codes. Students also gain a strong foundation in mathematics, communications, and applied sciences—key components for success in a trade that demands precision and problem-solving skills.

Throughout their studies, students develop proficiency in measuring, cutting, bending, threading, and assembling pipes and fittings to exact specifications. Emphasis is placed on reading and interpreting blueprints, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes, and working efficiently with tools and materials. The program includes theoretical and practical coursework that mirrors real-world job site conditions, preparing graduates to confidently enter the workforce or continue apprenticeship training. Before beginning the program, students attend an orientation session and diagnostic testing to assess their readiness and ensure a smooth start to their training journey.
