At the heart of every innovative product and digital solution is user experience design. Fanshawe College’s User Experience Design program immerses students in the full UX lifecycle, equipping them to create solutions that are usable, enjoyable and accessible for diverse audiences. Grounded in human-centred design practices and research-driven frameworks, the program focuses on four core components: research, ideation, design and communication. Students gain a multidisciplinary foundation in design thinking, UX research methodologies and the creation of professional UX deliverables, while building expertise in prototyping, usability testing, stakeholder engagement and project management.

As students refine their UX design skills, they learn to balance user needs with business objectives, presenting persuasive, evidence-based solutions that align with financial, technical, accessibility and usability considerations. Experiential learning opportunities provide real-world application, including client-based projects in the second semester where students contribute as UX team members within product development environments. Graduates leave prepared to collaborate across industries, manage multidisciplinary teams, apply inclusive and accessible design standards, and lead user experience initiatives that support complex organizational goals in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
