The Auto Body Repair Technician program is a two-year offering that will open the doors to a career in the auto body industry and could lead to a managerial position or to graduates successfully operating  their own business.

Students will spend approximately 40 per cent of their schedule gaining hands-on practice in a spacious and well laid out state-of-the-art auto body lab outfitted with new equipment. In this lab, students learn from faculty members with years of industry experience who are committed to seeing learners succeed and to helping to maximize their skills.

As a Graduate, in two years students will have earned an Ontario College Diploma and the first two levels of in-class education in the Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair Apprenticeship. Students will then be ready to start their journey as a registered Apprentice, which will prepare them to return to school for their level 3 on a traditional apprenticeship.

What You’ll Learn

  • Develop a repair plan by evaluating collision damages to automotive body and frame through analysis of vehicle construction and substrates used by vehicle manufacturers.
  • Disassemble, assemble, test and inspect vehicle body components according to vehicle manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Repair vehicle cosmetic and structural components according to industry standards using basic repair techniques.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and safe work practices to support and maintain efficient, safe and secure shop operations.
  • Maintain various automotive systems to required manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Perform paint manufacturers’ refinishing procedures according to manufacturers’ standards for quality, appearance and durability.
  • Use leadership, teamwork, conflict and relationship management skills and tools to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Develop and apply strategies for personal, career and professional development to enhance work performance and maintain currency with industry.

Additional ancillary fees for career services, health and counselling, athletics, student ID cards, and more may apply.

As a current student in Centennial College’s Early Childhood Education program, I’m loving the experience so far! The curriculum is really well-rounded, covering everything from child development to creating inclusive learning environments. The best part is the hands-on experience—we get to work with kids through placements, which is amazing for applying what we learn in class.
