Located at the Ashtonbee campus, the in-person Developmental Services Worker Program provides students with access to expert faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. This dynamic learning environment combines hands-on training with real-world experiences. Students benefit from direct interaction with industry-experienced educators and globally connected guest speakers, offering a blend of theoretical and practical learning opportunities. The program is designed to ensure students receive the guidance and resources necessary for success in the Developmental Services sector.
Offered as a two-year college diploma under the School of Community and Health Studies, the program provides a strong foundation in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The curriculum incorporates best practices, current knowledge, and addresses relevant issues, ensuring students are well-equipped for the field.
The program will provide a deep understanding of the life experiences of individuals with disabilities, focusing on intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and Autism. Students will develop skills in advocacy, communication, problem-solving, teaching, and supporting individuals in valued social roles. These skills will be applied through virtual practice and field placements, offering both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
