Seneca Polytechnic’s three-year advanced Fashion Arts Diploma program allows students to explore their creativity while acquiring essential skills for a career in the fashion industry. These skills include illustration, 3D computer-aided design, sewing, pattern making, textiles and clothing construction. The curriculum also emphasizes sustainability, diversity and technology.
The program culminates with a presentation of student’s graduating collection, where they can showcase their avant-garde designs in the area of interest — whether it’s streetwear, outerwear, evening wear or couture. Adding to the Fashion Arts program experience is access to Seneca’s Fashion Resource Centre, which houses over 12,000 Canadian-worn garments and accessories dating back to 1840.
Graduates of the program can explore the following career options: Designer, Product Developer, Technical Designer, Assistant Designer, Pattern Maker, Grader, Sample Maker, or Production Co-Ordinator. Graduates may pursue positions involving marketing, textiles, quality control, film and theatre costuming.
