The University of New Brunswick’s Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (COHS) program provides a flexible, practical learning experience focused on developing essential process skills, setting it apart from other programs that emphasize technical content alone. Designed and delivered by industry experts, the program offers a comprehensive curriculum aligned with current industry standards. It is accessible to all, with no prior experience or prerequisites required.

This online, self-paced program caters to a wide range of learners, including current OHS professionals looking to expand their qualifications, individuals considering a career change, and newcomers interested in entering the field. With three distinct clusters of courses, each focusing on specific OHS topics, students can start their studies within one business day of registration.

Upon completion, students will meet the formal education requirements for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST®) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), though additional work experience and professional development are needed to qualify for certification. Each course takes approximately 46 hours to complete, with an estimated duration of ten weeks, but students have the flexibility to progress at their own pace taking up to two years.
